About Us

     With a broad range of instrumentation, The Kinsella Jazz Program offers a unique sound that will inspire and lighten your heart as well as your soul.  The groups repertoire includes jazz, blues, funk and R&B ranging from the 1920's through present day.

Jeremy Osterling - Jazz Director

 

     Saxophonist, Composer/Arranger and Educator, has been performing and teaching for over 15 years.  Since the age of 12, Jeremy started performing and traveling in community groups.  For the next 7 years, Jeremy traveled throughout the United States (Sacremento Jazz Festival, Capitol Building in Washington D.C., Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center, and the New Orleans French Quarter Festival) performing in big bands and Traditional Jazz Quintets. In addition to performing, composition and arranging began to interest Jeremy at a young age. He began to study composition and arranging privately with Eric Osterling and Walter Gwardyak at the age of 14.

 

     Jeremy attended Cromwell High School and the Greater Hartford Academy for the Arts (GHAA).  Jeremy was fortunate to have the oppurtunity to perform with many guest clinicians, which included Bob Berg, Fred Hersch, Don Braden, Terrell Stafford and Christian McBride as well as experience Master Classes and Clinics from Jamey Aebersold, Phil Woods, John Scofield, Barry Harris, Clark Terry, Chick Corea, Christian McBride, John Benitez.

 

     Pursuing Music Education, Jeremy attended Western Connecticut State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education. Jeremy received his Master of Arts in Education specializing in Howard Gardners Multiple Intelligence Theory. Jeremy is licensed in the State of Connecticut and is currently the Jazz Director at Kinsella Magnet High School of Performing Arts.

 

Jeremy currently performs in the following professional groups:  Pandemonium, Take 2 Jazz Duo, Thomaston Jazz Orchestra (CT), Bristol Brass and Woodwind Ensemble and the Sharp 5 Jazz Quintet.
